Growing up I was told that you need to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. It turns out that I don’t. I do pretty well on far less, as long as every now and again I get a good sleep in. Digging around online there’s no consensus at all. 8 Hours is a myth, and the experts don’t have a common view.
I did find an interesting infographic exploring pro-athletes and their sleep patterns. If the data is correct, except for Tiger Woods, the rest of those used in the infographic are getting over 8 hours of sleep every night. And Roger Federer is sleeping for up to 12. Huffington Post had this 1.5 minute video that basically sums up the general view out there….. that there isn’t one. The quest continues…….
