Kai Krause is fighting ‘rampant Immappacy’ by creating inventive mapsĀ like this one of Africa. If you’re like me, then you haven’t a clue what ‘Immappacy’ means? Google, as you might expect, has plenty of links (265 to be exact), but I couldn’t find it in a dictionary, or Wikipedia. Krause defines it as:

“In addition to the well known social issues of illiteracy and innumeracy, there also should be such a concept as “immappacy,” meaning insufficient geographical knowledge.”

If you follow the link, Krause has simply taken countries people may understand the size of and arranged them so that they fit into Africa.

“A particularly extreme example is the worldwide misjudgment of the true size of Africa. This single image tries to embody the massive scale, which is larger than the USA, China, India, Japan, and all of Europe … combined!”
